Kid’s honesty is great. When coaching my son’s soccer team I would often assign the boys positions they weren’t used to, especially to be goalie. Nearly every time the boys would say they didn’t want to be goalie. When I asked why they would say, “I’m afraid” (Too bad were not this honest with ourselves).
My answer would always be, “That’s why you need to do it.”
