Decisions, decisions, decisions

“Analysis of several hundred people who had accumulated fortunes well beyond the million-dollar mark disclosed the fact that every one of them had the habit of reaching decisions promptly, and of changing these decisions slowly, if, and when they were changed. People who fail to accumulate money, without exception, have the habit of reaching decisions, if at all, very slowly, and of changing these decisions quickly and often.”
— Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich

There is one key word in Hill’s quote that is responsible for how we make decisions. Both successful and unsuccessful people are affected by this word. The word is “habit”. Both sets of people had habits that were responsible for their results, either good or bad.

Our lives are habitual. We operate most of the time from a sub-conscious or automatic level. The habits we have are responsible for the results we get.

None of us were born with our habits. All of our habits, both good and bad, were conditioned over time. The good news is habits can be eliminated, changed or developed. If you find that you have a habit of reaching decisions slowly, you can develop the habit of making decisions promptly.

This week, ask yourself:

Do I make prompt decisions?

Do I change my decisions slowly?

What habits are serving me well?

What habits are harming me?
