“Faith is a state of mind which may be induced, or created, by affirmation or repeated instructions to the subconscious mind, through the principle of autosuggestion.”
– Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich

On Monday you were asked what you give energy to, fear or faith. Napoleon Hill tells us that faith is a state of mind; and states of mind can be created. He further tells us that the way you create faith is through autosuggestion.

Autosuggestion is self-suggestion. By first creating a very clear image of what you want, you can begin to tell yourself you are already in possession of your goal. Phrase your autosuggestion in this way, “I am so happy and grateful now that . . . ” and fill in whatever your goal is. Write it down on a card and carry it with you everywhere. Read this statement over and over again, hundreds of times a day if necessary.

Hill further writes, “You may convince the subconscious mind that you believe you will receive that for which you ask, and it will act upon that belief, which your subconscious mind passes back to you in the form of ‘faith’, followed by definite plans for procuring that which you desire.”

Two things will happen when you auto-suggest. First, you begin to believe you will receive your goal and your subconscious mind creates the emotion of faith. Second, your subconscious mind will become aware of how you are going to receive that which you want.

The the question before you is very simple:

Are you going to practice autosuggestion for what it is that you want until you get it?
